Trucks: Urban Myth and Outback Express

The utility or 'ute' (basically our version of the pickup) pretty much typifies the Aussie way of life. They are rugged, and deliver some of the comfort and handling of a sedan with the practicality of having a large truck bed.
I made these two trucks to demonstrate what could be done with my Falcon XF/XG ute body that I have packaged on my site for people to download, repaint and use as a basis for their own trucks. These were inspired by customised Falcon utes I have seen around my hometown, Bathurst. With these two trucks, I wanted to express the difference between the outback and the city, but use the same vehicle as the base. Bathurst is a unique a mix of outback town and bustling city - it's not a huge metropolis like Sydney, but nor is it just a small community like Lucknow.
Urban Myth represents one end of the scale - the city dweller, outfitted for urban cruising and showing off. It originally started out as a silver truck, inspired by a vehicle that lives in my end of town, but then I saw another with a gold paintjob, so I just had to repaint my version to be gold! It carries a number of fancy parts - side skirts, a deep front bumper with large air intakes and grille, a deep rear bumper, and a silver rollbar - just like the two vehicles it was inspired by. The wheels were made by me using parts from many different wheels - the three-spoke alloy wheel was taken from one set (basename 'old'), the Bridgestone tyre wall from another (basename 'blade') and they were all applied to a different .BIN model (basename 'Ab') to create my own custom wheels (basename 'myth'). A few decals - Bridgestone, Ford, and of course the truck's name, Urban Myth - on the truck body, the addition of some custom-made exhaust pipes out the back, and that was it.
The other truck, Outback Express, was also inspired largely by a vehicle I saw in town. It represents the other end of the scale - the tireless outback workhorse, used for all the duties on a property. In such an environment, fancy front spoilers and deep side skirts would be ridiculous, so this truck carries only the no-nonsense additions. First off, there's the extra lights - two foglights on the bumper, and two driving lights and two floodlights on the rollbar. It is also fitted with a front bullbar to protect the vehicle in case of a collision with an animal such as a kangaroo. The wheels are just plain old grey steel - no sense in having expensive wheels in the sheep paddocks! It also has an assortment of decals applied to it, and finally, to give it that paddock basher feel, I have painted dried mud on the sides and rear of the truck.
I am very pleased with these two trucks, as the theme for each really shines through and they complement one another perfectly.
